I am a passionate travel blogger looking to develop my professional writing experience. I am seeking freelancing opportunities in travel, adventure and nature writing.
In 2014 I took a year off from work to travel around the world for 11 months with my partner. We traveled to all 7 continents, visiting national parks, completing multi-day hikes and seeking deep cultural experiences everywhere we went. This was also the birth of this travel blog, www.our21stcenturyodyssey.com.
In addition to my travel experience, I have a strong writing and journalism background. At the University of Virginia I was a feature writer and senior editor for the Health and Sexuality section of Cavalier Daily student-run newspaper, where I gained experience in content development, story pitching, research & interviewing, writing and editing.
In 2017 I was honored to be a top finalist in the World Nomads 2017 travel writing scholarship and have been featured on other blogs.
From 2018 through 2019, I will be on my second round-the-world, this time for 20 months and to 43 countries. I’ll be hiking in the Himalayas, diving in Indonesia, learning Spanish in Guatemala and living in a camper van in New Zealand. This is a fantastic opportunity for magazines, newspapers and online publishers to work with a travel writer living a nomadic and unconventional lifestyle.
