Thanks for the article it makes me want to visit so another destination is added to my bucket list. Good tips too about using a private driver. I am not sure I want to travel with any alcohol drinkers in either a bus or a taxi. We used a private driver in Kerala and we can highly recommend it.
For sure!! Our driver who drank the last day of our trip was our private driver the entire week. In general though, we love traveling with a private driver and would definitely recommend it!
Great itinerary. I would definitely hire a private driver if I were to visit India. In fact, hiring a local always seems to be a good idea when traveling to certain areas of the world. Not only they know the roads better, but they can also give you some good information about the places you visit. I’d love to visit Spiti Valley someday. It looks like such an amazing place!
Spiti Valley is love and the road trip is madness. I was planning to go this April but the Manali road would be closed and I really want to do a similar itinerary like yours, so I would rather wait for the second half part of the year.
Wow that’s an interesting itinerary. I live in India and have been wanting to do Spiti Valley since long. And your pictures are gorgeous. Make me want to go there right now. Hopefully sometime in the next couple of years. Will keep your itinerary handy.
Such a great itinerary! I’ve heard just a few things about Spiti Valley, and now I want to go check it out! Sounds like the private driver is the way to go! I’m not sure I’d love to be traveling via car if that involves rolling over those huge boulders. That looks like a Hummer obstacle course!
That’s an incredible itinerary. I bought a Lonely Planet guide of Spiti Valley in the hope to actually plan a trip but still I’m not even near planning one!
Spiti is just so fascinating! There is so much to do and so much to see. 10 days sounds good.
It looks like you traveled a lot of ground during your stay. Thanks for including a map! It’s a dream of mine to visit the Himalayas and this just made it all a little more achievable. It looks like Spiti Valley has a lot to offer and is so, so stunning.
I visited Spiti valley a couple of years ago and had an amazing time. You took some lovely photographs and did a great job of describing the whole experience. Your article made me re-live the whole trip. Thank you for bringing back so many nice memories 🙂
Wow, it’s so breathtaking! There is something serenely calm about landscapes devoid of human life, but filled with vivid colors!

I agree! It’s an interesting contrast and almost emphasizes the isolation
